Stoic self help

It’s easy to laugh at the whole Stoic self help movement. But there are some interesting tidbits in it.

Amor fati, the love of fate is somewhat unique to Stoicism, as far as I can tell. It’s more than a passive acceptance of the Divine Will, it’s an embracing of it, pain and all.

I think Stoicism is a powerful philosophy, way of life, because it combines this almost brutal fatalism with a strong free will in the dichotomy of control.

This is ultimately the same thing as Right View in Buddhism, but there’s something in the Stoic expression thereof that resonates.
