A yes needs a no

I’ve been thinking about one of the surprisingly good business self help books I read a few years back called The Coaching Habit. A key idea is that any time you say yes”, it’s meaningless unless there’s a corresponding no” that will free up your time and energy to make the yes” possible.

While this was written in the context of a professional mentor, I’ve been in numerous personal situations lately in which this has come up. And sometimes I just can’t shake the desire to try and do it all. And then everything comes out mediocre.
